An Explosive Time

Before we talk about a raffle unlike any other I've ever come across (this is the explosive reference), I'm (pleasantly) floored a dark, sad story that hit last week was not as explosive as it could've been. In this case, there wasn't the outrage I expect from such a story, one involving pets. Maybe everyone had the somber realization I did.

Veterans + Mental Health

Jake Healy from the Toledo Vet Center and his Director are by to discuss all aspect of veterans and their mental health, and the many free services they provide.

The latter half of the episodes gets a bit more personal and bolts and nuts as soon-to-be Dr. Christopher Jackson shares much of his knowledge as an LPCC, and what symptoms he commonly sees with vets and some techniques that may be most helpful, including DBT, brain spotting and EMDR.

That ties a bit back to something recently. AJ Brown's sentiment to just let people say something and you just move on along. 

I want to ask yourself to honestly dissect why you're endeavoring to help.

A tree fell in Alex's yard. If it went the other direction her house would've been flattened, which would've been devastating if you had followed her odyssey trying to buy a home. Also, the unsurprising headaches that came with trying to get the mess cleaned up.

Volunteer For AFSP

As we wrap up Mental Health month (EVERY MONTH IS MENTAL HEALTH MONTH), my friend Megan Scott returns as AFSP is looking for volunteers to help with all kinds of various duties thru the summer and leading up to the walk on Oct 5th.

I also want to throw my 'what teen mental health crisis' thought at her, mom of a 16 year old daughter. 

We Can't Help Ourselves...
